What is Restorative Yoga?
In Restorative Yoga we rest in simple yoga poses, using props to support the body. The props and positioning help the body to completely relax, without effort. Props may include bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, and eye pillows. Once the position is established, the practitioner rests on the support for 3-10 minutes. Breathing and meditative practices can also be incorporated. This approach to yoga is incredibly calming to body and mind. It is ideal for those with busy lives who would like to have a simple, calming practice. A personal practice may exclusively restorative, or can be combined with Viniyoga movement, and other tools of yoga.
